At the market, nine friends in pink, purple, orange, blue and green gather with calm, kind expressions and white bead necklaces. Market Day Bustle sets two big orange baskets of fruit in front, with a bundle of sugarcane between them, against a blue sky fading to warm maroon brown.

Everyday market scenes like this one helped make Haitian painting famous after DeWitt Peters opened the Centre d'Art in Port-au-Prince in 1944. The woman sitting cross legged in front seems to be the one keeping count.

This original was painted in Panama by Haitian artists and is signed Ducas. It has been carefully stored and is in very good condition.

It is hand painted on canvas and comes unframed, as a loose canvas, ready for the frame of your choice.

Founded in 1991, TraderBrock celebrates handmade art from Latin America and the people who make it. Haitian paintings have been part of our collection from the very start, and all profits go back into the indigenous artisan communities we work with in Panama.
