Collectors of handmade art will appreciate this Carousel Shadows plate basket in cream with dark brown shapes and rings, a vintage plate from Panama's Darién rainforest. The bold dark brown shapes circle a ringed cream center, with slim brown bars set between them. A small loop woven into the rim lets it hang on a wall, or it can sit on a plate stand, a shelf or a tabletop.

From Jan at MolaMagic: Here's another small treasure for that narrow wall you have been wanting to decorate. Butterflies galore, in dark brown on cream, and those two colors go with just about everything.

Plates like this one are woven by Wounaan and Emberá women in the Darién rainforest of Panama, a skill handed down from mothers and grandmothers to daughters. Fine strands of chunga palm, colored with natural dyes from rainforest plants and earth, are coiled tightly around a core of naguala fiber, stitch by stitch, from a small knot at the center out to the rim. Every plate is woven entirely by hand, so each one is truly one of a kind.

MolaMagic was founded by Janet Marie Brockman with a simple but powerful mission: to help indigenous artisans in Panama share their art with the world. All profits go right back into the artisan community, supporting education, medical care, land, tools, and daily needs. Buying a MolaMagic basket means you are part of that story too.
